Eó Stories is a small family project. It is not a business, not a library, and not a distribution service. Nothing here is sold at a profit, advertised, sponsored or promoted. The Library section is temporary by design and will be taken offline when its current reading cycle ends (section 3). Please read the non-distribution policy in section 4 — it is the part that matters most.
eostories.org is the personal, non-commercial site of Eó Stories, a family studio that makes children's picture books from a child's own drawings. The site has two distinct parts, and the distinction matters:
The site carries no advertising, no sponsorship, no tracking for advertising purposes and no paid placement. It is operated at the personal expense of its author.
This site is operated on a not-for-profit basis. The Library section is offered at no charge and generates no revenue of any kind. Our own picture books are offered separately through third-party retailers; any proceeds are incidental and do not fund or commercialise the Library section, which remains free and non-commercial in intent and in fact.
The Library section exists for private study, commentary, criticism, review and the discussion of literature. The essays and narrations are original works of commentary. Where passages from other authors' books appear, they appear in order to discuss, analyse or illustrate a point about those books, and are attributed to their author and title.
Nothing on this site is offered as a substitute for reading, buying or borrowing the books discussed. If a book here interests you, we would rather you bought it or borrowed it from a library.
The Library section is temporary. It is published here only as a convenience — so that a handful of readers, in a few different countries, can reach the current instalment while the reading project is still in progress. When the present cycle of Constellations and Galaxies is complete, this section will be taken offline. The material will then be kept privately, in a local reader, for the author's own continued study, and will not remain published. It is not intended as a permanent publication, an archive, or a collection for others to consult.
This is the core condition of using this site. Material here is made available for personal reference in the course of reading and discussion only. It is not licensed for distribution, and no permission to distribute is granted.
You may not, whether or not for profit:
Access is personal to you and is not transferable.
Where a file can be downloaded, that is a convenience for reading it, not a transfer of any right in it. Any file downloaded from this site is for your own reference for the duration of your reading, and should be deleted once you have reviewed it. No licence, assignment or permission of any kind is granted by the act of downloading, and retaining or passing on a copy is not permitted.
All rights in the books, texts, illustrations and other works of third parties discussed or quoted on this site remain with their respective authors, illustrators, translators, estates and publishers. No ownership is claimed over them, no endorsement or affiliation is implied, and no rights in them are granted or purported to be granted to you. Trade marks and titles are the property of their owners and are used for identification and reference only.
Our own text and artwork — the picture books, the essays and the narrations — remain © Eó Stories, all rights reserved.
If you are an author, illustrator, translator, estate, publisher or other rights-holder — or act for one — and any material on this site concerns you for any reason, please write to eo@eostories.org.
We will remove it promptly on request. You do not need to send a formal notice, provide legal argument, or explain your reasoning. A short message identifying the material is enough. We would far rather take something down than have it remain somewhere it is not welcome.
Please tell us what the material is and where on the site it appears, and how we can reply to you. We aim to respond within a few days.
The Galaxies section discusses children's books and is written to be read aloud by an adult together with a child. It is intended for the grown-up who is reading, not for unsupervised use by children. Our own picture books carry suggested age ranges; they are guidance, not a rule.
This site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including as to accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted availability. The essays are personal readings and interpretations, offered in good faith; they are opinion and commentary, not scholarship of record, and they may contain errors. Nothing here is professional, educational, medical or legal advice.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Eó Stories shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential or special loss or damage arising out of or in connection with your use of this site or reliance on anything in it. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
This site links to third-party sites, including retailers and video platforms. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, terms or privacy practices.
These terms may be updated from time to time; the date at the top of this page shows when they last changed, and continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of it. If any provision is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force. These terms are governed by the laws of Japan, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections available to you in your place of residence.
